ALICE
SPRINGS

Alice is situated almost in
the centre of Australia and is the gateway to visit
Uluru (Ayers Rock), Australia's national icon. However
international flights now land in the township near
the Rock. But Alice is a good location to start a camping
tour to the rock and take in sights on the way like
Kings Canyon. Highlights in Alice itself include the
famed shopping mall from the book A Town Like Alice
(Neville Shute), local Aboriginal artworks and the Telegraph
Museum where you can still send telegraphs.
